Monday Miscellany: Berry-Infused Vodka, April Garden Care, and Terrific Terrariums

It’s Monday again, so time for a round-up of the best from around the web this past week.

First up, two of my online pals, Stevie of Garden Therapy and Nicky from Dirt and Martinis, team up to offer a berry-infused vodka tutorial. I’ve done this in the past and it is really, really good. As Stevie points out, it’s a great way of using up any frozen berries still kicking around from last year’s harvest. Check it out:

Next, I just started writing weekly ideabooks for Houzz, that hot design site that all the designers are on now. While their content is more on the “home” end of “home and garden”, they’re working to change that with some new contributors, including fellow Roundtabler Andrew Keys, author Debra Prinzing and more.

My first article? Garden Maintenance Tasks for April in the Pacific Northwest. My phone’s been ringing off the hook with new clients for my fine landscape maintenance service, so I figured it was a timely topic that a lot of people were interested in.

Then, if the winter weather’s got you down, do some gardening indoors with terrariums! Nesting Place has some inspiration for you, and Stevie has a more in-depth info on how to create your own.

Last, a few announcements:

Big congrats to the four newest members of the Garden Designers Roundtable! We carefully selected four new designers to join us in posting monthly on a variety of design topics. You may know David Cristiani, Thomas Rainer, Deborah Silver, and Mary Gray already, but if not I’d urge you to go check out their blogs. They each have a unique take on design, and it’s an honor to be a part of the Roundtable with them.

Don’t forget to enter the giveaway for Fruit Trees in Small Spaces by Colby Eierman. This is a great time of year to be thinking about growing food, and Colby’s book will cheer and inspire you on that journey.

And if you haven’t yet taken advantage of the discount on the Worm Factory 360, now’s the time! It expires at the end of April. I love mine.
